Arizona Cardinals Stadium

A bold and iconic environmental graphic program for the Arizona Cardinals home & stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals NFL team has established an iconic new stadium in Glendale, Arizona, designed by Peter Eisenman and HOK Sport. This state-of-the-art facility features a retractable roof and North America's only retractable grass playing field. Bloomberg Business Week named the stadium, with its distinctive form inspired by the local barrel cactus, as one of the ten most impressive sporting structures globally, making it the only U.S. stadium on the list.

Serving as the home of the Arizona Cardinals, the stadium has hosted major events such as the Fiesta Bowl, the 2007 and 2011 BCS National Championship Games, the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship, Super Bowls in 2008, 2015, and 2023, and the 2015 Pro Bowl. It has also been a venue for international soccer tournaments like the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final, and the Copa América Centenario in 2016. Additionally, it hosted the NCAA Final Four in 2017 and is scheduled to do so again in 2024.

While at Pentagram, I had the privilege to work with Michael Gericke to develop such an innovative visual program for both the stadium and its surrounding site. This comprehensive design initiative includes the building’s overall identity, large-scale thematic elements, signage, sponsor graphics, scoreboards, end zone treatments, and interior designs for spaces like locker rooms, club lounges, corporate lofts, and the team store. The work integrates the stadium into the Cardinals' identity, creating a dynamic new home for the oldest continuously operated professional football team in the country.
